Shamans are ancient medicine men/women who have been practising for many years in all parts of the world. Shamans do not share one certain belief but have an adaptable way of connecting to the divine that is shared with shamans from all cultures. Today, you hear a lot more talk about shamanism in the West, and modern-day shaman are popping up all over.
People today, like many years ago, consult shamans for help with many different issues like illness, work problems, and family issues. Shamans are very interesting. They don’t go about their healing in a traditional sense. They go into a trance state which allows them to move to the invisible realm where they work with spirts to make changes which help those in ordinary reality heal. Shamans are special because they use their gift to connect with the spirit world to heal individuals in their community.
Shamans As Healers
For some, going to a shaman is part of their culture. Shamans were the first medical professionals in many cultures. For others, going to a shaman is a new thing. It also may go against their religious beliefs. People still consult shamans for their healing powers, especially when they have exhausted other measures.
Shamans have the ability to move between altered states of consciousness. In these altered states, they are able to move between at their own will. They are mediators between the spirit and physical world. They share the needs of both in a way that is impactful to their community. They also serve the needs of their community in a way that differs from other professionals.
Types Of Shamans
There are three types of shamans. The first practices from tradition in their native land. Another type of shaman connects the traditional shamanic world to more modern ceremonies that might not have been used in their native cultures. The third are those who were called to be a shaman by the spirit and are not actually connected culturally to shamanic traditions.
People seek healing from shamans for physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional illnesses. Shamans can benefit your life in a multitude of ways that differs from treatments from modern-day medicine. Shamans view illnesses as a spiritual or energy issue. They use their healing gifts to find the root energy problem. They’ll “track” your past to see where the print started and deal with it there.
Once the root or the first print is found, the shaman can begin to use specific techniques of energies to begin to fix the issue. They might remove energy that is not serving a purpose, while also returning lost energies. They may even do a soul retrieval, which allows those parts of your soul that you’ve lost through the years to be retrieved. It’s those parts that you’ve given away, such as when you went through grief, abuse, or trauma. By gaining them back, you’ll feel much more whole.
Shamans Go Deep
Shamans go deeper than the traditional mental health therapy we oftentimes go to when we’re struggling with issues. The therapist will take you back to your childhood, but a shaman might take you back to past lives to address the root of the issue there. For example, if you’re constantly struggling with poverty, the “print” might have started way back in your lineage. Your ancestors were not able to “heal” it in their lifetime, so it got passed to you. A shaman can track it in the spiritual realm and deal or heal it where it first started. It’s quite impressive.
If you live within a culture where shamans are the traditional type of healer, they are easily accessible. For those who do not live in these cultures, it can be a little more challenging to find a shaman. However, as mentioned before, there are modern-day shaman arising all over the world.
The Foundation for Shamanic Studies is a good resource, as they post a list of Shamanic Healers who have been through a training program. Before seeing a shaman, make sure to ask others regarding their reputation as a healer and ask them who they were trained under. Not everyone who claims to be a shaman has the gift of healing or has been trained by indigenous people.
Look for the authentic healers who have taken the time to work under a true-blue shaman. This will help to ensure you have a positive shamanic experience.
